There are so many social media platforms to choose from. But if you want to grow your blog, make more sales, or get more exposure, you must get more eyes on your content. And Pinterest is a great way to do it.
Pinterest has many benefits that you may not realize, including vertical videos, sharing communities, and Pinterest TV. In this post, I’ll share strategies I’ve used to leverage Pinterest to earn over half a million monthly views and grow my blog -Nikki Connected, and content creation business.
Create A Business Page
Convert your personal Pinterest page to a business page in “account settings” to access analytics and programs, including the Pinterest Business Community. This community offers forums, newsletters, and special opportunities for business owners and content creators. It gave me the opportunity to broadcast on Pinterest TV, where I was the only person broadcasting live on Pinterest during a 30-minute segment. The stream provided exposure and increased income through affiliate links.
Focus on Pinterest SEO
Optimize your Pinterest profile and boards by using keywords in your profile, board titles, and board descriptions to rank higher in search results. Stay on top of trends using Pinterest Trends, and learn about trends before they occur with Pinterest Predicts.
Create High-quality Content and Improve the Visuals
Pinterest is mostly about visuals. So it’s imperative to create pins that are bold and visually appealing. Some ways to do this include:
- Use bold, contrasting colors
- Include standout elements like banners and arrows
- Use high-quality images
- Post idea pins and videos
Canva is a great resource for stock images and pin templates They have copyright-free, photos, images, and pretty much everything related to graphic design. Canva also has templates to help you easily create pins and social media. Just be sure to customize the design to make it your own. Canva has a free plan, but to get access to everything they have to offer, it’s worth it to get Canva Pro.
Idea Pins and Video Pins
Often overlooked features on Pinterest are idea pins, vertical videos, and carousels. Video idea pins have their own feed, like most other vertical video platforms. Make it easy on yourself and repurpose your videos from other platforms. This can be another way to leverage brand deals. Many brands don’t realize that Pinterest has vertical videos. So, educating them about it, coupled with high stats, has led to every brand I’ve worked with, adding Pinterest to the deal. From experience, brands are often eager to add idea pins to brand deals once they understand the value it can bring.
Be Social and Building A Following
Pinterest is a social platform. So interacting with other pages is important for growth.
Pinning other’s people’s pins within your niche may seem counter-productive, but it can actually grow your following tremendously. That’s not to say pin someone else’s post that includes your exact subject. For example, a food blogger that created a pin for an apple pie recipe shouldn’t post someone else’s apple pie. But, if they re-pin someone’s post about a banana cream pie, then that can bring them more traffic.
When re-pinning other posts, keeping a good balance between the amount of other people’s content and your content is key. One strategy is to use the ratio of 75% of your pins, and 25% of others’ pins. But when you’re just starting out and don’t have many pins of your own, you may find yourself posting mostly others’ pins, and that’s okay. Just try to get more of your own pins posted as time goes by. Re-pinning others’ posts, especially a viral pin, can significantly boost your impressions and page visitors. Pinterest credits you for viral pins posted on your page, even if you weren’t the creator of that pin.
Having a variety of pins not only gives the Pinterest algorithm more reasons to send people to your page, but it gives your page visitors more reasons to check out your other content and follow you.
Growth Tip – Tailwind
Consider using Tailwind to simplify your growth. Tailwind is a platform that schedules your pins and other social media. It also has an A.I. writing tool, bulk pin creator, detailed analytics, an email marketing tool, and more. Tailwind Communities is a powerful feature. These are groups where members agree to re-pin each other’s content, helping to increase traffic. Although Tailwind is a paid service, it can help a page active and growing, even when you’re not available. This is helpful to keep a steady flow of visitors and customers to your page.
Final Word
These Pinterest strategies, from optimizing your profile to creating visually appealing pins, can increase your brand’s visibility, drive traffic to your website, and boost your sales. It is a powerful tool that can help you achieve your goals.
